“Mount House is a school that inspires creative expression and imagination and where individual characters are embraced.”
Mount House is rightly proud of its fantastic reputation in the Arts. Creativity is essential in today’s world of rapid change, global competition and digital communication. Mount House excels at motivating students to look at the world from different perspectives, to challenge received wisdom and to generate ideas.
We support students’ learning of new creative skills and artistic techniques to improve their creative output and develop their individual style.
We study artwork created from different periods in history, considering historical context and drawing comparisons with our present lives.
Ultimately, Art is to do with having lots of fun, experimenting with different materials and techniques and just seeing what happens.
We are on the doorstep of one of the biggest cultural cities in the world, with amazing museums and galleries, but our beautiful school grounds in a semi-rural setting are equally inspiring.
We have small class sizes and this allows us to give the students the freedom to be more ambitious with their ideas. This results in impressive academic grades with art, textiles and photography consistently achieving top grades A* to B at A level and 90% 7 – 9 GCSE.
Art and Photography Clubs
There are always opportunities for participating in Art outside of academic studies with art for House competitions and getting involved in cross-curricular projects with Drama and English departments where art plays a big part.
In Photography Club we do experimental digital work and learn skills in Photoshop.
Mount House also participate in the ISA Art competition and has achieved a number of commendations.
