Mr Jonathan Cooper


Career:

Jon has held a number of roles at independent schools. Having graduated with MA in History from University of St Andrews, followed by the PGCE at Bristol University, Jon began his beginning his teaching career at The Portsmouth Grammar School. He moved to Redmaids’ High School in Bristol and there held a series of roles including Head of Years 10 and 11, Assistant Headteacher (Co-curricular and Operations), and Assistant Headteacher (Sixth Form, Partnership and International). In addition, he ran the schools International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Jon was a member of Senior Team for the merger of Redmaids’ with Redland High School.

Jon has taught History, Global Politics, Economics and Theory of Knowledge. He also has experience as an examiner in Global Politics. Recently, Jon has become part of the first cohort to be awarded the status of Chartered Leader in Education.

Jon’s also has experience working internationally. Primarily this comes from being a founding member of the council for United World Schools. Here he sits on the Education Advisory Board and works with business and education leaders across the globe to support the operation of, and promote the values and work of the charity.

Personal interests:

Jon is a keen runner competing in a range of trail races including ultra-marathons. Following this he has coached cross country and football. He enjoys the emotional rollercoaster of supporting Tottenham too. His wife is also a teacher, and he has two sons at primary school.
