‘Mother tongue, Other tongue’ event: Thursday 22nd May 2025

We are delighted to present a “Mother tongue, Other tongue” evening of music, poetry and languages at 18.30 on Thursday 22nd May 2025.

Students and parents are invited to either perform a musical piece on an instrument/voice or recite a poem/prose in any language, genre or culture.

The A Capella choir will be performing their rendition of “The Gospel According to Mount House”, a carefully crafted mash-up of songs, which showcases their beautiful blend, unity and clear tone.

We hope this multilingual and multicultural concert will offer an enriching evening, promoting and celebrating our school’s cultural diversity and the many languages spoken within Mount House. We particularly encourage students studying GCSE and A Level languages to participate in this evening to develop their speaking and listening competencies. Also any parents/relatives (or perhaps whole families) who would like to participate to celebrate their heritage and languages, perhaps with a traditional folktale, poem or musical performance. We want a diverse, joyous and enriching evening for everyone and encourage a range of different acts to perform and as many members of the community to share these with us.

Please fill in the form below to express your interest:

If you have any musical questions, please contact either Mr Whitehouse or Miss Pollard; or for languages queries, please contact Mrs Lazouras. We look forward to your submissions.
